HOW TO CREATE A BABY KEEPSAKE CAPSULE

HOW TO CREATE A BABY KEEPSAKE CAPSULE

The attachment to all the baby things is real. How do you choose what to put into a baby capsule and what to leave out?!

What does the Baby Keepsake Capsule come with?

Creating a capsule is not just about the keepsake items but all the changes and milestones that happen in the first year of a baby’s life. Documenting these moments means they are recorded to look back on in future generations too. The following are included in the Baby Keepsake Capsule. Click HERE to see more product images.

Linen Keepsake Box

The capsule is presented in a luxurious high quality linen keepsake box with gold embossed title. It measures 270 x 300 x 45mm | 10.7 x 11.9 x 1.8inches. It is lined in card stock featuring our vintage illustration. This illustration features throughout the keepsake box items and was a fun collaboration to work on with the talented Atelier Mave.

Baby Firsts Journal.

Record all the firsts in this linen bound baby firsts journal. It is easy to keep, simply print a photo capturing the first moment and accompany with a few words and the date. Receiving a personalised handwritten journal that has been kept about your life would be one of the most priceless gifts in the future.

Baby Firsts Journal measures 195 x 215 x 45mm | 7.7 x 8.5 x 1.8inches with card stock text pages being A5.

Keepsake Envelopes.

Included are four keepsake envelopes measuring 100mm square. You may like to keep a lock of hair, hospital band, or small treasures such as jewellery.

Keepsake Detail Cards.

Record weight, height, footprint and handprint on these A5, 300GSM card stock keepsake detail cards. Double sided print also featuring illustration on reverse.

What should I include in my capsule?
There are so many objects, outfits, little gifts that are so sentimental. When you are creating a baby capsule our suggestion is that you put the most sentimental items that ignite the memories you not only want to remember but also pass down.

The things that will live in my keepsake capsule are his first rattle, hairbrush, first shoes, stuffed toy which was bought by his dad on the day he was born, first bonnet, and the cardigan my mum knitted which he came home in from the hospital. All the detail and things we love the most - safe to pass down in the years to come.

Materials List

When you are putting pen to paper and creating your journal, we recommend the following items:

  • Ball point pen. Keep one new pen with the box so that there is no ink change throughout your capsule. We recommend a nice ball point pen. If you choose to use a fountain pen, please make sure to allow time for the ink to dry.
  • Acid free double-sided tape, photo dots, corners or washi tape to adhere your photos into the journal. Please only use acid free adhesives as to ensure the paper does not go yellow or eat away over time.
  • You may also like to keep a post in note pad handy to jot down detail and stick in as things happen. That way you can transfer information when you are relaxed and able to enjoy the process. You can also keep a running notes list on your phone.
  • Another hint is to create a folder of first photos on your phone. You may also like to just “heart” them, so they live in your favourites folder. When it comes time to print them all it will not be a massive task to decide which photos to print!

Creating a baby keepsake journal will keep not only the special items safe but all the milestone details and memories. Handwriting also lives on long after people have gone, so you will be creating a much-loved family heirloom to treasure for generations to come.
